I went shopping. Craigslist, eBay, Goodwill - I hit 'em all. What was I looking for? A pair of vintagey crystal brooches (matching) or some gaudy old sparkly clip-on earrings. I found these old Avon earrings at eBay for under $5.
Not sure how anyone wore them on their EARS - they're huge! But I think they transform these shoes from ho-hum to hot!
Maybe I haven't found just the right pair of clip-ons (that's another nice thing about this technique...you can change it up for every mood!) since I was looking for rhinestones rather than pearls, but I still think they look quite special.
Ideas for embellishing shoes: add jewelry, crystals, paint, feathers, silk flowers, fabric, leather, tassels, bows, trim, coins, paper, buttons, beads, or gems! Here are some sites I found - but there are a million out there!

Just visiting from the Plus Sewing list. I love what you did to the shoes! How do you walk in those heels, though? I love shoes, but I don't wear really nice ones with tall heels because they 1) I feel like I'm standing on my tippy-toes, and 2) they hurt! Do you have a secret?
ReplyDeleteLol, I do have a couple of wearability helpers. 1) My feet are BIG so it spreads out the burden. 2) I always have a pair of flats with me. I only drive in flats, and if I'm running errands, sitting at my desk or hanging out in my office, I wear the flats. I slip the heels on when I go in to teach, arrive at a meeting, or give a presentation. Limited wear time makes them MUCH more doable!
